Let me introduce you to our passion... singer songwriters, originality and work ethic.
As a singer songwriter I find very few places to actually sing and be heard without it being in a crowded, loud environment. And the complaint amongst the writers is “I’m tired of playing the same 50 songs” “I rarely get to do my music, I am paid to be a juke box” and they do this because...bills.
My response to them is “God Gave you a light, why do we Work so hard to imitate everyone else’s light?” Writers want to play 80% original and 20% cover (cause we love other people’s music too!) And that’s what we plan to encourage here.
Two of my most favorites places to see and hear great music is Courvilles(Beaumont) and The Heights (Houston) They, in my opinion are doing it right! (And believe me, it’s not for everyone. Nothing ever is )
A common frustration in this area is the lack of desire or places to “hear” original music. Believe it or not it’s not like this in many other places in the great state of Texas. There are people writing, singing, playing and a crowd soaking it all in...just as I experienced at the #osmf2018 this year just south of Austin.
While we all love the classics by Merle, Patsy, Johnny, Rolling Stones, Eagles etc and can appreciate the new efforts by CoJo, Wade, Lumineers, Mumford, and more, there are still many songs to be written, sung and heard.
My passion has always been music and education. And after spending 10 years In public education teaching math, art and music I realized while teaching these kids to be creative and confident in what they create, what and where will they continue to get to express themselves as adults. Which is why I love places like the Art Studio in Beaumont and more. Giving wings to those willing to put in the work. Those finding ways to achieve their dreams.
There is no day like today to give some breath to the passion inside your heart. So we are starting with house concerts! Which means limited seating (at first) so be patient ❤️
The very first happening in June. Caleb and KC of the Homegrown tomatoes from Conroe, Texas.
If original, live, listening environments are your thing, welcome...and if not let me help change your mind 🙂
